Because everyone else is doing it…
Wide angle

Today I took the new Canon 10-22 mm lens for a spin in SF. Of course, I botched the settings (ISO 1600 — oops) and don’t know a thing about correcting the huge amounts of distortion from a lens this wide, but I got some really nice photos if I do say so myself. Click the link to see them.

Shoppers all around at the corner of Grant and Sutter

I spotted this while walking and had to take it

Endless doors; thanks Marc for the inspiration

My favorite shot of the day was taken inside Ft. Point

The last picture? I do like Escher, though I wasn’t “shooting” for that

Oh sorry, I wasn’t very clear. Yes, I was talking about the last picture.

Whoa. The first two look like kind of like fish eye shots. Where was the nifty stairway and reflection shots taken? I may be dragged into shopping downtown SF next week, and it’d be fun to see these structures in person if we pass them by.

Wow. All of those are great. I can’t pick just one. I love the stairway picture, but the endless doors and reflection picture is pretty awesome as well. Not that you don’t already have enough to do, but you would have a great photoblog if you decided to do one.

Well, the lens I’m using (10 – 22 mm) basically is a fisheye. It’s VERY wide and VERY distorted… I had to correct most of them to straighten things out a bit.
The lastl two shots were in Fort Point, just under the south end of the GG Bridge. The refletion shot… geez, I don’t remember what street that was.

These are really beautiful shots, Jeff. Over the years, I’ve noticed a definitive progression in your work. Keep it up! Some of these are very seriously museum quality. You should submit a portfolio to some magazines at least.

Distortion? The lines look straight enough to me… or did you just mean perspective distortion?
