Now this is a little bizarre
Posted on June 29th, 2005 4 commentsLast night my mom and I wanted a few snacks for our hotel room so we walked across the street to the Wal-Mart Supercenter. I never go to Wal-Mart because I detest the place and I’ve never been to a Supercenter before so I was in for a shock. Not only can you buy steak and underwear in the same place: you can even buy lobster!

Yes, Wal-Mart lobsters. In west Texas. Seemed a little odd to me.
Anyhow it’s hot as a furnace here, around 105 during the day and very low humidity. Pretty boring so far… we’re going to do a day trip tomorrow I think.
One thing that is really annoying is the shower in the hotel room. What kind of idiot desigs a shower where the shower head is below your head? I’m 6′1″ and it’s at about shoulder level.4 responses to “Now this is a little bizarre”

Ahh, yeah, we also have Wal-Mart Family Market’s in texas which are just like regular old time grocery stores selling the most basic, but kinda upscale grocery items. they really are trying to take over the retail and food market.

Hey Jeff,
We’ve had Wal-Mart Supercenters in the Las Vegas Valley for quite some time….everything there from soup to nuts…:)
The first Wal-Mart Grocery stores just opened here within the last two days….good prices but looong lines. -
I’m a couple of inches shorter than you and I run into that annoying shower head problem constantly, too. Perhaps tiny French men do all the shower designs? At least some hotels are now moving towards movable or detachable shower heads; one hotel I stayed in this year had the head attached to bar which stretched from just above the knobs to well over my head, which was a welcome change.
I’ve never seen lobsters in the Wal-Mart Supercenters (not fond of them, either) back home in GA; that’s certainly a new one. But you can get your hair, nails, eye care, and car all done at the same place, if that’s your thing….
