  • Now that’s an expensive pizza

I had a pizza craving so I ran over to Round Table tonight. The cashier swiped my credit card and was punching away at the keys on the card reader when she said “oh no”. More “oh no’s” followed and then I said “you punched in too much, didn’t you?”. Sure enough, instead of $18.39 she punched in $180.39. That’s quite a bit for one pizza. The manager (who couldn’t have been out of her teens) came over and voided the transaction, but I’m keeping my receipts just in case. And no, they didn’t give me the pizza for free.

    • Oh! Bad experience, I tried something similar at McDonalds here in Denmark. I was buying a Big Mac menu when the cashier charged a little over 1000 danish kroner (approx. $165) from my credit card. The manager didn’t even look at me, just starred at the credit card machine and said “That can’t be withdrawed” and went away… Talk about lack of service… and an expensive burger!

    • I was bidding for a fountain pen on eBay at the very last minute. I entered $41.17 but the decimal didn’t take, so it showed $4117! I didn’t have time to change it, so I crossed my fingers and let it go. Fortunately, on ebay you only have to top the previous high bid by a certain amount, so I got it for $36.00.
