Balconies and birdfeeders
Posted on November 2nd, 2005 2 comments

My balcony is officially done, and all that’s left to do is add a few new shingles to the side of the house, close things up, and take down the scaffolding. They did a great job and it looks really nice. It’ll need some staining in a few months so it blends in better with the house.

I also got a bird feeder for the backyard. So far I’ve only seen one of these guys on it, but I’m sure that will change once word gets out. I put the feeder on a pole since there was no good branch to hang it from. Supposedly this feeder is squirrel-proof, but I’m skeptical about that claim.
My bathrooms are coming along, as well. Tile is being put down as I speak — err, write. I also had a pest guy come over today to do something about the rat problem in the basement, and I think we found the hole they were using to get into the basement.
Update: Squirrels 1, Jeff 0. They knocked the bird feeder right off of the stand!2 responses to “Balconies and birdfeeders”

Jeff,
If the feeder turns out not to be squirrel-proof, you can always grease up the pole (we used automotive grease). The squirrel’s will try to climb up but just slide down, it’s quite humorous actually! Of course, that doesn’t stop them from jumping from that tree though… -

That’s a really nice backyard you got there. All that plantation really hid the fence well!
