One week to go

Exactly 7 days from now, I will be stepping off the plane at Osaka Kansai airport in Japan. From there I will spent a few days in Kyoto, Nara, and Osaka before boarding the ms Volendam for a 17 day trip toward Hong Kong. Along the way we’ll visit Nagasaki, Busan, Dalian, Beijing, Shanghai, Naha (Okinawa), and Taipei. As with past cruises I’ve been on, I will be posting photos as I go, so check back often for those!

Been a long time

Somebody recently told me that I don’t post any photos of Zoe and Flame anymore, so here are two recent shots that I took with the Panasonic GF1!

One downside of losing weight

I was trying on my suit and other dress clothes tonight for my upcoming Asia trip, and everything is too big now!  I may have recently complained about being stuck in a diet rut, but it was nice to see some really tangible results tonight, even if I have to drop a few hundred dollars on new stuff.

Diet rut

Last fall I started dieting, with the hopes of losing about 35 pounds in total. The first twenty came off easily, but the last 15 are proving to be very difficult.

Not so much because WeightWatchers doesn’t work, but because it’s becoming so hard to stay on track week after week. If you go out to eat twice a week (and don’t order carefully), there goes any wight loss for the week. This last week I totally fell off the wagon, and two weeks worth of dieting were lost. This on/off problem has kept me at roughly the same weight for months.

I also wonder, if and when I reach my goal weight, how on earth I’m going to keep it off. I certainly can’t go back to eating what I want. I’m either going to have to continue watching what I eat, start going to the gym a lot more often, or something in-between. I wish I had the metabolism of those skinny people who seem to be able to eat whatever they’d like.

One month to go

Exactly one month from now, I’ll be in Japan, which kicks off my nearly three week trip to Asia. I just got my visa for China, and the rest of my documents are in order. Haven’t figured out what camera to bring just yet, but I’m hoping it’s the Panasonic GF1. As with past trips, I’ll be posting photos while I’m on the road, so keep an eye out for that!

More details on the trip as I get closer to leaving!
