Rant of the week: ATM machines

| | Comments (3)

Is it just me, or are they getting more and more difficult to use? Bank of America's are especially bad. Insert card, choose your language, enter your PIN number, and wait.

"Fast cash" used to be fast. Not anymore... now you have to pick how much you want to withdraw instead of pressing one button and collecting your $40. If I wanted to choose my withdrawl amount I'd get cash the regular, non-fast way!

And depositing money is more of a pain too. How much do you want to deposit? Are you sure? Which account? Okay, give me your money. Then the stupid thing prints out the receipt which wastes paper if you want to perform another transaction after that (like withdraw money).

Wells Fargo's ATMs, on the other hand, are cool. You can even buy stamps from them!

Man, I feel better now.

My big complaint about them... when ppl call them ATM Machines... hehe, Automatic/Automated Teller Machine Machine. ;-) ;-)

I am also a BoA customer and agree. My favorite line comes after you put in your pin number, it says "Please wait while we load your pesonal settings"... then it asks for your language. I thought it picked up my personal settings!

I have only one account with them and still I have to select my checking account to deposit or withdraw, even though savings and money market options are, well not options.

Have you checked the price of stamps at a Wells Fargo ATM? I bought some when they first started offering them, and it cost me about a 30% premium if I remember correctly. At Safeway I can get them for face value, just 10 ft from the W-F ATM.

Yeah I think they add like 75 cents onto the price of stamps or something. But hey it was 10:30 at night! :)
