From last night: service bay rollout
Last night we spent over three hours in a muggy, mosquito-infested area in front of the launch pad to watch the rollback of the service bay, and in my opinion, it was worth the bites. The shot you see above is actually four photos stitched together, and a much larger version is available. I also have a very cool animated GIF (1.3MB) which shows the rollback.

That is one thing I definitely envy you.

I was definitely thinking of you when they called the launch. My problem is that the fuel gage reads full when it is really empty. NASA must use a different brand...
Since we are a special interest crowd, would you mind keeping informal track of the kinds of cameras and lenses you see there?
I've seen all kinds of cameras. Good mix of Canon and Nikon D-SLRs... a few 20Ds, various EOS-1D models, a D2H, etc. I've seen some crazy lenses too. The 400mm F2.8L is huge! A photographer with a 70-200 F2.8L asked me how I liked the 28-300 that I'm borrowing (I like it but it's so big and heavy!).
What a great bunch of pictures, and you're right, the big version of the one shot is awesome. Thanks for sharing them!
