Keeping quiet
One nice thing about my job is that I get to see new cameras before almost anyone else in the world. In order to see them, the camera manufacturers require me to sign a non-disclosure agreement. That means that I cannot publish any information about these products until the embargo expires.
Well, this morning, for the umpteenth time, someone leaked information about two upcoming Canon digital SLRs. This information sits up for hours, and all the websites that did NOT sign an NDA eat it up like sharks. All the big tech blogs are running the story, as are some camera review sites that are not under NDA.
Meanwhile, I'm supposed to sit quietly until the embargo ends tonight. Technically, since the information was public, the NDA is null and void -- but I can assure you to Canon would not take kindly to me posting anything early. And I'm pretty sure that nothing will happen to the site that originally leaked the information (in this case Amazon.com).
Frustrated? You bet.
