Bizarre
I'm working at a coffee shop in San Francisco that I haven't been to in years. A bizarre note is taped on the table nearest the door, that reads:
Please do not site here with your laptop... they will get stolen... sorry. Please move a table away from the front door. Thank you."
I don't get it -- do people just run by, open the door, and grab your laptop? Nevertheless, I sat somewhere else.

Maybe someone sits outside, and waits for you to leave your laptop to get a coffee refill. While you leave your laptop to get the refill, they dash in and grab the laptop. Maybe it's time to invest in one of those cable locks that wrap abound a table leg.
Hey man! Yes, apparently people do steal them... crazy, huh?

Every time I see a laptop in a coffee shop I always ask myself the same question, how can anyone work in there? I mean the noise, the smell... well, the coffee smell is good, but the distractions are just everywhere. Same goes for reading a book or studying. I have no idea how people do that.
Anyway, I'm sure it doesn't take much for a $2k dollar laptop to walk away in a public place while left unattended for a minute or two.
