Greeting card deja vu?

| | Comments (1)

Last week I was buying a Mother's Day card (amazingly early for me), and after sifting through a handful of awful cards, finally settled on one. The thing is, it was strangely familiar. As if I'd bought it before. While I won't know until my mom opens it, my gut is telling me that I've given her this card at least once before.

My proposal to the greeting card makers: there must be at least a five year break before you can sell the card again. I figure the recipient will have forgotten by then.

(God, I'm starting to sound like Andy Rooney!)

I had a similar experience a week or so ago. I went to buy a birthday card for a friend and after eliminating the mass of awful cards, I was left with only a couple of choices. One of them I very distinctly remember sending the friend a few years ago (luckily there was another good choice left!).

I guess the reason they keep recycling the good ones every couple of years is that the rest of the cards they make are so awful.
