I’m totally stoked about my trip to Alaska this June! The first part of the trip is a cruise out of Vancouver, sailing up the Inside Passage. We’ll first stop at the quaint towns of Ketchikan, Juneau, and Skagway. Next are two blockbuster days in a row: Glacier Bay, followed by College Fjord. After that, we cruise to Seward, and start part two!
Part two is a short land tour, with the highlight being a few days in Denali National Park. The tour concludes in Anchorage, where I’ll fly back to San Francisco.
This trip is going to be a photo extravaganza, for sure. I’m going to need a bigger lens to capture some of that wildlife!
PS — Almost forgot, I’m going to Yosemite at the beginning of July with the whole family, too. Including my niece and Jackson the yellow lab!
I totally meant to post these on Monday, but the week just flew by! Here are some pics of my very cute niece, Savannah, from last weekend. She’s now 7 weeks old, and a lot more aware than when I last saw her. She’s starting to smile and make cute sounds when she’s happy. Click the link for a few pics!
Last week, SF Chronicle columnist Jon Carroll made some suggestions on how to improve Starbucks (in response to their “retraining” marketing ploy). One of his suggestions was to have a “stable of older lap cats, the kind that stay put on any warm human” to lend out to customers.
In today’s column, he reveals that it’s already been done. It shouldn’t come as a big surprise to hear that it’s happening in Japan. There are cat tea houses where you can sip tea and enjoy the company of numerous resident cats, for around $7 an hour. Teahouses like this were apparently created because cats aren’t allowed in most apartments in Tokyo.
I’ll have to put this one on my to-do list when I finally make it to Japan!
I was really hoping to get my Sony Alpha DSLR-A200 review done before leaving for Southern California, but that’s not going to happen. Always seems to be something that slows me down. It seems like it takes me longer to review cameras than it used to, though I attribute a lot of that to burn-out.
So, I’m bringing my work with me… but at least I can get to hang out with Savannah!
I’m sure I’ll be shocked at how much she’s changed in 6 weeks. I’ll definitely post some photos when I get back!
