Yup, a portion of Wan Chai (Lockhart Road) has actually been the red light district (dated back to Korean War) so you are right on the seedy comment...and the sign on top right actually says "...room for rent by the hour..." and...hey! Fotomax is still in business...it is a specilised photo developing store, they used to advertise on those 23-minute 35mm film developing...

Nice view from that hotel room- Thinking of Hong Kong climate I'd sit the whole day there in a nicely air conditioned room and watch out that window and enjoy the view ;-)

So the other day I was thinking, I haven't seen anything from Jeff Keller in my RSS feeds in a very long time. I went back to look and the last post I saw was from August. Oh dear, oh dear, what happened to Jeff? Came to your blog and what's this? I've freaking missed three months! RSS Fail. And I missed a photo trip and I love those. So I promise to try not to comment on every photo post within the next 10 minutes as I catch up but have to say I love those night shots. The architecture of the buildings is so unique.

Worked out very well. My review pretty much covers my thoughts, though I found that the camera does clip highlights more than I had noticed when I reviewed it. Also, the lens release button is poorly placed and too easily to bump accidentally, which can throw you out of menus or playback mode, or cause a lens error.

I'll see what I can do about those full size photos.

What is your impression of the GF1 for the Asian trip? Can you show some of the high res photos for us to check out? Thanks

That's good that you didn't have to worry. Only 10 upgraded passengers in business on Tuesday from what I've been told!

I am leaving for Singapore tomorrow and have to go via Seattle-Tokyo, since my usual options of going via SFO-Tokyo or SFO-Hong Kong are full up front.

I applied for the upgrade (using miles) back when I booked the ticket. I knew it was going to clear right away so I didn't have to worry.

Nice job on getting an upgrade confirmed HKG-SFO. This route is notoriously tough to get an upgrade. In all my years of flying to Asia on United, I've only done the HKG-SFO non-stop once and I had to sweat it out at the gate hoping my upgrade would clear, which it did.
