Jeff's New House Journal
April 25, 2003

I was told last night that I had to be the first one in the door with a 3% deposit check. That's almost $10,000!

I got up early and picked up my dad at 8:30am. We drove out to Brentwood and made it in about 55 minutes from Foster City. We drove around town a bit to kill some time and then arrived at the sales center. We were still early so we were going to walk around the neighborhood (such as it is right now) and then a guy in an SUV pulled up. We immediately bolted toward the door to make sure we were first in line.

And thankfully, we were, and the other guy was there for another house. There must've been 8 people that came in at 10am... they sell houses like crazy. The sales woman sold another house when I was there for one hour. I got piles of paperwork and was told to return on Sunday to get pre-approved (again) for a loan.

After that we toured the models again (plan 1, isn't modeled, go figure) to look at the standard features as well as the upgrades.

Following that we went down to the spot where my future home will sit later this year.

My lot... nothing much going on yet. They are working on the wall behind it.

This is across the street -- the lot I could've had for another $33,000.

Here's my front yard view on a rainy day. I don't know what it will look like when there are houses there, but right now it's pretty. Mt. Diablo can usually be seen when it's not this cloudy. Just down the block is open space.

On the way home, we stopped at the KB Design Center to look at upgrades. Some of the prices were shocking. You can easily blow $50k or more there. I won't have that much to spend but will hopefully be able to upgrade the place somewhat.

So back I go on Sunday, and I'm hoping to be able to walk through another plan 1 that's being built. I bought this house sight-unseen!
