New House Journal

It was a cool summer day in Brentwood -- only 88° -- when I arrived in the late afternoon. I was excited to see some vertical construction, but was disappointed at the same time that things hadn't progressed as quickly as I was told. The house is framed, but the roof is not on yet. For my next visit in a week, I expect the roof to be done.
Let's take a look around, front to back.
Here's the front view. Compare it with last week's update and you'll see how far they've come.
Opposite angle. You can see that the house next door (to the right) is also framed.
Here's the garage. You can see that everyone is still braced. I made sure I didn't bump into anything -- don't want to knock over a wall or something!
Here's my future office (AKA bedroom #3). It's not very big, so I'll have to organize things a little better than I have now.
This is the view out of the office window. I think my dad was right -- you need to stick your head out of the window to see Mt. Diablo. I guess I'll have to go in the front yard when I want to see it.
This is the super family room, which was kind of hard to navigate, as you can see. On the wall, there will be three large windows. With that huge house next door, I'm not sure how much light I'll actually get.
This is the kitchen/nook, with a sliding glass door out to the rear yard. In the foreground/left, there will be a counter, where I'm hoping to put some bar stools. The counters/cabinets will be on the left wall.
This is the master bedroom. The big mystery of the day was about the writing just below that opening in the back. It looks like they're putting in doors there, but they're not supposed to (as I didn't pay for them). Here's a closer look:
I have no idea what this means. If I get a free door, that's great. Hopefully they'll figure it out.
This is the master bathroom, with the tub on the left, shower on the right. New houses are weird, as they all seem to have big windows right next to the tub. I'm glad there's the wall behind the house!
This is the future "throne room", if you know what I mean. The walk-in closet that the women in my family were drooling over is behind and to the right of it.
Here we are in the backyard. That house on lot 19 really towers over mine! The bedroom is on the left, with the mysterious opening.
My house on the right, the house on lot 21 (another 2 story monster) is on the left. About 10 feet between them.
My house on the left, even more enormous plan 4 (lot 19) on the right. 15 feet between them.
Speaking of the big house next door, here it is, along with what I believe is a rare plan 2 model to its left.
That's all for this week! Things are getting exciting!
