I went with my mom to see the house today, hoping it would have been stuccoed and shingled. Neither of which happened. However, there was a fairly big change on the outside, and many inside.
The front of the house looks the same as two weeks ago. Or does it? Sharp eyes will notice that I no longer have dark gray shingles -- now they're a reddish-brown color!
The neighbor's house is just about done. Even the landscaping is in.
Step inside the garage, and... what's this? A garage door and opener! It was feeling like home already, but I still hadn't been inside.
They're adding a shelf to one wall. I'm going to paint the garage and set up my photo studio here.
The biggest surprise of the day was in the kitchen. Cabinets! Counters! Wow! Everything is painted too.
The sink will be on the left, with the range straight ahead. I got the "full splash" upgrade, which is why the tile goes all the way up the wall behind where the range will go.
The refrigerator goes in the middle, and the dual microwave and oven on the right. It'll be nice to have all this storage space!
Aside from being painted, the family room is unchanged from last time. They haven't put in the electrical outlets yet... still just wires.
Here's a look at the second bathroom. Not terribly exciting, but it's getting there.
The master bath was quite nice. The counters and cabinets are in, as you can see.
And look, my shower and tub!
Closer look at the tub. I'm not a big bath person, but I may just have to try this one a few times. One strange thing is that all the new houses I've looked at have lots of windows next to the tub. Glad I got window coverings!
The last picture from this trip is of the backyard. Now that the fence is in, it feels more like a real yard. Just with a lot of dirt. When I move in, I'll have a concrete patio and lawn back here.
And that's it! I probably won't be back inside the house until my final inspection, as it'll be locked from here on out. But it's starting to feel more and more like my home, which I'm still coming to grips with.
