Jeff's Spring Break 1997

Grand Canyon and the Four Corners

All pictures were taken with Jeff's Olympus D-300L digital camera at either a resolution of 512x384 or 1024x768. They were touched up in Photoshop 4.0. You can click on each thumbnail for a larger version, of course.

Day 3

Grand Canyon NP to Cortez, CO

We first headed back to the south rim, and then went east on highway 64. We stopped at various places along the way to check out the canyon. The day was much sunnier than the previous day, which made pictures a lot nicer.

We then continued on towards Canyon de Chelly Nat'l Monument, with hopes of making it all the way to Farmington. We shot through Navajo territory, but that wouldn't last. You see, around the town of Chinle, AZ, I got pulled over for speeding and got handed my first ever speeding ticket (keeping in mind I'm only 20). While I won't go into details, let's just say I was nearly $200 in debt from the incident. And, it slowed me down quite a bit for the rest of the trip.

Anyhow, we finally made it to Canyon de Chelly. I was pretty depressed at this point after getting the ticket. It was okay, but nothing fantastic, IMHO. The canyon itself was cool from above--we didn't hike down due to time constraints.
