Islands of Adventure

When I heard people saying that Islands of Adventure was the best theme park in the world, I was a little bit skeptical. After visiting for a full day, I agree that it's one of the best, if not the best. The theming, music, and attractions are all top notch... kind of surprising coming from Universal. They need a few more rides though... you could easily clean the place out in half a day if you tried.

Here's a fairly lousy picture of the lighthouse outside the IOA entrance. The walk from the (huge) parking lot is a long one!
The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman was our first stop. The wait was supposed to be less than 5 minutes, but the ride broke and it ended up being more like 15.

Spiderman is superb from a technological standpoint. They've managed to blend live action and 3D seamlessly, just like in Terminator 2:3D. I felt that the story was kind of generic, but it didn't really matter. It's not my favorite ride in the world, but it's right up there.

Hulk is one intense coaster. It took just one ride to make it to my the #1 spot in my sit down steel coaster list. The launch and roll is fantastic, and the ride doesn't slow down until it hits the brakes. Did I mention that the loops are huge?

It's typical B&M smooth, with no headbanging at all. I could ride this all day.

Here you see the Hulk sign with a great corkscrew around it.

Here, the Hulk train dives into a tunnel, giving quite a head chopper effect.
It then blasts out of the fog on the other side of the tunnel!
Here's a Hulk train going through the massive Cobra Roll at the beginning of the ride!
Here's most of the Hulk ride.. the first half, at least!
We skipped Dr. Doom's Fearfall. Not a lot of SpaceShot fans in our group.
